How the Season Works

Scoring

Points on each hole, off your net score after strokes. High score wins.

Double or Worse

Play to your handicap and you’ll shoot 18. League average runs about 16.

There’s a Floor of 12. Score under 12 and you’re given a 12. If the yips show up one night, it can’t wreck your season.

Every Week $50 a Night

Two winners every night out of the twelve playing.

$30Card Game
Best Three-Card Poker HandHit a green in regulation, draw a card. Best three-card hand at the end of the night wins. Straight flush beats three of a kind, beats a straight, beats a flush, beats a pair.
$20Closest
Closest to the PinEvery par 3 that night is in play. The closest tee shot on any par 3 takes the $20.
$200Ace Pot
Hole-in-One PotSits there all year and pays only for an ace. If nobody makes one, it goes to the Tootsie Roll Drive — see the bottom of the page.

Every Session $330 × 11 Sessions

A session is two weeks, both nights on the same nine holes.

$150Skins
Session Skins — Half HandicapAll 24 net scores go head to head on each of the nine holes. Win a hole outright and you’ve got a skin. The $150 splits evenly among every skin won. If nobody wins a skin, that session’s pot goes to the charity jar.
$120Team 1st
Three-Man Teams, Best 2 of 3 — Full HandicapTeams are drawn fresh every week. On each hole the best two point totals on your team count and the third is thrown out. All eight teams from the two nights compete. First place is $40 a man.
$60Team 2nd
Runner-Up Team$20 a man. Ties split the money; teams tied for first split first and second place together.

If You Can’t Make It

Three options, in the order we’d prefer them.

  1. Play Early. Make arrangements to play your round before league night. It counts as a normal round in every way.
  2. Send a Substitute. If one’s available, they play your round. Everything they win that night or that session is split 50/50 with you — card game, closest to the pin, skins, team money, all of it.
  3. Take an Assigned Round. If no sub is available, you’ll be given another player’s round from that week at random. It counts for your points and for team play — not for skins.

For Playoff Qualifying, you can use substituted scores twice a season. After that, substituted weeks score 12 points.

The Playoffs $1,790

Two brackets on Championship Night. Everybody who reaches the Championship Bracket gets paid.

The Play-In Bracket — 14 Players, Three-Hole MatchesSeeds 11 through 24 play for the last four spots in the Championship Bracket. Seeds 11 and 12 get byes in the first round. Strokes are the handicap difference between the two players divided by three, fractions dropped. Four players advance; the other ten are done for the night.
The Championship Bracket — 14 Players, Nine-Hole MatchesThe two division champions, the next eight players in the standings, and the four Play-In winners. The division champions get a first-round bye and come in at the quarterfinals. Matches are played at the handicap difference between the two players.
The Play-In SpotIn the first round of the Championship Bracket, anyone who came through the Play-In Bracket spots their opponent one hole — they start the match 1 down. Getting in on your season standing is worth something.

Every dollar goes back to the players — about 165 payouts across the season, or roughly seven times a year that somebody hands you money.

The Jar. A dollar for anything out of bounds, anything in the water, and any shot the simulator doesn’t read. At the end of the season the whole jar goes to the Knights of Columbus Mentally Impaired Tootsie Roll Drive — and if nobody makes a hole-in-one all season, the $200 ace pot goes with it.
